The Softball Program

Majors Softball:
     This league consists of girls 10-12 years of age.  Anyone who has not played in this league before must tryout.  It is not guaranteed that all girls trying out will make it, there is pitching with no walk restrictions.  The pitching distance is 35 feet.  A 12" regulation Babe Ruth Softball will be used in all games. Bunting and stealing are allowed, and introduced in this league.  There are 3 outs per inning, no limit of batters batting per inning.  All players must bat before starting at the top of the lineup.  There are 10 girls on the field.  Umpires will be required for all games in this league. 
 

Minors Softball:
     This league consists of girls ages 9-10 years  old.  Anyone who has not played in this league before must attend the tryouts.  Pitching is introduced and learned by players.  There are 3 walks per inning allowed.  After the 3rd walk, the batting teams coach will take over pitching.  If a batter is hit, it counts as a walked batter.  There are 3 outs per inning and/or all batters have batted in the lineup, whichever occurs first.  NO bunting or base stealing is allowed.  One extra base is allowed on an error, this includes a play that may have several errors.  There is an 8 run mercy rule per inning.  Everyone bats in the lineup and 10 girls on the field.  An 11" regulation Babe Ruth Softball will be used in all games.  Umpires are not required in this league.
 

Rookie Softball:
     This league consists of girls 7-8 years of age.  A 9 year old may be in this league if they have had no prior experience playing softball.  There are no tryouts required for this league.  Pitching is done by the coaches, there are no walks.  There are 3 outs per inning and/or everyone bat.  Ten girls are on the field.  Main focus of this league is fundamentals of the game.  There are 5 strikes per batter and we use a 11" regulation Babe Ruth Softball in all games.  No umpires are used in this league.
